Friends of the Library On-going Book Sale

Nearly new books donated by community members are offered for sale by the Friends of the Library on a book shelf located within the library during open library hours.

The Friends of the Library also staff a book sale room open at various times each month.

Book Room Hours:

Tuesdays, 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Wednesdays, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

KNITTING CLUB

Join our group for help with a project, knitting company, or to knit for charity.  The club is free and open to the public.

Siberian Husky Club

of the Niagara Frontier

Thursday, November 8th @ 6:00 pm

The Husky Club will be here to talk about their annual Paws of Thunder dry land cart race to be held later in the month.  Learn the difference between this sport vs. traditional dog-sledding and meet a few of the dogs!

Easy Jam Making

Saturday, November 10th @ 3:00 pm

Tina Ames will teach you the fun and easy way to make jam with your fresh fruit. This one hour class will be hands on and teach you two processes of jam making – chia jam and water bath method. No special equipment needed to invest in for the student after the class. 

Of course – sampling of jams is part of the class!

Jewelry Making Workshop

Saturday, November 17th @ 3:00 pm

Kathleen Rumfola will host this workshop which will focus on creating jewelry out of bottle caps, photos, and glass.  Each participant will make a necklace with interchangeable pendants, a “hair jewel”, and jewelry box made from a greeting card.

Mobile Dome Planetarium

Your Sky Tonight – Fall Edition

Wednesday, November 21st 

2 Sessions to choose from: 3:00 or 4:00 pm

This program is designed for ages 8 and up. 

Family-friendly; adults are encouraged to attend.

The stars come to us as Mr. K of Ancient Eyes Productions brings his inflatable dome planetarium to the library! Explore the night sky as seen from your backyard. We will look at things you can find in the sky like bright stars and constellations, current moon phase and visible planets. All these objects, plus more, can be seen in your sky tonight!

A Day at the Office:

Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra Edition

Thursday, November 29th @ 6:30 pm

Lecturer: Tim Smith, Trombonist, BPO

Learn about the life of a professional orchestra musician in a presentation illuminating the unseen operation of the orchestra.  With a focus on musicians’ onstage communication through breathing, eye contact, and body language, you will learn about the day-to-day life of a BPO musician.  This includes rehearsal procedures, practice time, working with guest artists, and managing multiple folders of repertoire week in and week out.

Buffalo Botanical Gardens

Floriography: the Secret Language of Flowers

The Botanical Gardens will start off with a lecture on the language of flowers, its history and development and will move onto the “hands-on” portion where participants will make a floral pen and a “tussie mussie” or fresh flower bouquet to take home using the language of flowers meanings.

Tales for Tails 

2nd Saturdays 1:00-2:00 pm

September 8th thru December 8th 

Share a story with a therapy dog from the SPCA's PAWS for Love program. Reading to dogs is a fun way for children at all reading levels to practice their fluency and increase their confidence as readers.  Dogs are excellent listeners regardless of pace and content.

Register now for your 15-minute reading session.  All dogs are behavior tested and therapy certified.

Which is your favorite? Dragons or Unicorns? With this program, you don't have to choose! Come celebrate fantastic beasts at the library. Create a dragon's egg and decide what type of dragon you'll hatch at home. Make and take unicorn slime, stories, games, and a dance party!

Polar Express Pajama Party

Friday, November 30th @ 10:00 am

 Wear your fuzziest, coziest pajamas and bring a friend to watch this holiday favorite about a young boy’s magical adventure to the North Pole. Make a Polar Express themed craft. Hot Cocoa will be served.

Light Up the Boulevard Storytimes and Crafts at the Library

Light Up the Boulevard festivities start at the library this year with readings of "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" and grinch-themed crafts and activities.

School Break Movie Matinee
